The weekly meeting of the Feilding and district Victory Loan committee was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Wednesday evening, Mr. K. M. Little (chairman) presiding. Mr. C. B. Thomas, ' district Public Trustee, was appointed a member of the committee. A general discussion ensued regarding announcements as to the progress of the campaign and subscriptions to the district target which totalled £205,000. It was reported that according to Information from Palmerston North the subscriptions acknowledged to Tuesday and credited to the district approximated £20,000 covering purchases of stock and national savings. The chairman stated that he had been advised that the Victory Bond Wagon would be in Feilding on Friday, September 29, when it was hoped to have the services of the Ohakea Air Station band to assist in the festivities for the occasion. With the wagon would be a company of artists and a civic welcome would be extended to the visitors at which the Mayor (Mr. T. L. Seddon) would speak along with the chairman of the committee. Should the weather prove wet the programme would be conducted in the Drill Hall. A sub-committee comprising Messrs. F. J. Allen, C. A. Corder. C. H. Tate, H. T. Simmonds and the chairman was appointed to make all necessary arrangements. With the object of expanding publicity It was agreed to secure a greater display of posters, flags and signs, etc., and this was left in the hands of the publicity committee. Although posters had been distributed to shops throughout the town the display was not considered adequate and it was agreed that shopkeepers be appealed to to lend support in this matter.
