(From Our Own Correspondent.) The following are spending the school vacation with their respective parents: Lyra Christian (Solway College), Joan and Mary Short (Queen Margaret's), Joy Carr (St. Bride’s Convent), Betty Macfarlane (New Plymouth Girls’ High School), Prudence Winder (St. Mary’s), Kevin James (New Plymouth Boys’ High School). Mrs. Batley, Taihape, is the guest of Mrs. Carr, “Forest Bend.’’ Mr. and Mrs. N. Amadio, Ohakune, are the guests of the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Green. Mrs. H. Taylor is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Towler, Palmerston North. Mrs. C. Eosser, Hastings, has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. E. Rosser. Constable T. J. and Mrs. Miles and Margaret and Jocelyn have returned to Blenheim after visiting relatives in this district. At the final of a series of card evenings held under tho auspices of the Hall Committee tho winners were Mrs. S. Coleman and Mr. J. Coleman, the consolation winners being Miss B. Christian and Mr. J. Robinson. In the absence of Mr. J. Macfarlane (president), Mr. J. Parsons thanked all for their patronage and presented the aggregate prizes. The winners were Miss T. Christian and Mr. G. Pilcher and the consolation winners were Miss R. Marshall and Mr. L. Ferguson. Mr. J. Marshall was in charge of the dancing, music being provided by Misses Christian and Shannon and Mr. D. 111ston. The hall w ? as crowded when residents and friends from neighbouring districts gathered to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. M. Mitchell and family. Cards were played by the older folk while numbers enjoyed dancing. Mr. R. Hamilton, on behalf of tho residents, expressed regret at the departure of the Mitchell family for they all possessed the highest qualities as neighbours and always interested themselves in anything for the betterment of the district. On wishing them well in their new home, Mr. Hamilton asked Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell to accept a silver fruit bowl and sandwich tray, Marie and Audrey a silver powder bowl each, and Ken a book. Miss Irene Christian and May Marshall presented Mrs. Mitchell, Marie and Audrey with, shoulder sprays. Musical honours were accorded the guests. Mr. J. Parsons was M.C.
