“The Curtain is Beginning to Run Down ”

MR. JORDAN’S PROMISES TO N.Z. PERSONNEL Received Wednesday, 8.50 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 30. Mr. W. J. Jordan (New Zealand High Commissioner) in a speech to New Zealand naval personnel at Plymouth, said: “From information we get it looks as though the curtain is beginning to rim down. It won’t surprise me very much if some of us again see the Dominion before very long. “Some of the New Zealand service personnel, particularly members of the Air Force, are disturbed and discontented because there is nothing for them to do, hut the fact is that plans had to be made a long way ahead and the losses in airmen and machines have been under half those estimated.” He assured the serving New Zealanders that plans were being made for their return home and for their general welfare after the war.
