Lunch-time Concerts and Poetry Bread ings Last year the experiment of arranging lunch-time concerts similar to those which have proved so popular in England was tried in Palmerston No-rth. This year there will be six concerts at fortnightly intervals, and the first will be given to-morrow from 12.20 to 1.40 p.m. The audience will be free to come and go when it suits them, and a nominal charge of sixpcncec will be made for admission, the proceeds going to the patriotic fund. The day has been changed to Thursday to suit the convenience of country people spending tho day in the city. The performers for tho first con cert are Mesdames Gair, H. Palmer, Beveridge, Miss M. Penketh and Mr. Sefton Freeman. The poetry readings given in the library (Children’s Library Room) by Mr. and Mrs. Mquntjoy last year will be continued. Tomorrow evening the first of the year's series of six fortnightly readings will be given. To-morrow night’s programme is a varied one comprising poems serious and silly, classical and modern. These programmes, too, are arranged by the W.E.A. with the cooperation of the Civic Centre Association.
