Mr. Mansford’s Independence

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I was glad to see in your issue of to-day’s date that Mr. A. L. Mansford dissociates himself iu every way with the Independent Group of Parliamentary candidates. This is good news. He claims to be tbe independent Independent. But how is it that he has the united support of the discredited Tory Party, now masquerading us the Nationalist. That our local Conservatives are backing his brand of Independence is somewhat ominous aud Palmerston electors will know' what to do.—l am, etc. JOHN BROADMEAD. ralmerston North, Sept. 17.
