SIMS HASTIE A ceremony on an afternoon of golden sunshine solemnised the marriage of Jean Mary Martha, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hastie, of Feilding, and Carl Theodore Sims, R.N.Z.A.F., second son of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. L. Sims, of Feilding. The Ven. Archdeacon F. H. Petrie officiated with Mr. E. A. Golding providing the wedding music, while lovely spring, blossoms arranged by Mrs. P. Stevens, mingled with the sunshino through the windows of St. John’s Anglican Church to provide a porfect setting for the bridal party. To the strains of “The Voice that Breathed O’er Eden” tho bride entered the church escorted by her father and made a striking figure in a beautiful gown of deep magnolia satin, fashioned on classical lines with flowing train. From a coronet of orange blossoms foil a full veil, delicately embroidered, and at the neckline, a single string of pearls was worn, while together with a trail ing bouquet of freesias, orchids and hyacinths, outlined with pink-tinted cottage tulips, servod to create the traditionally lovely bride. In attendance were two attractive ’maids, Misses Jeanette and Pauline Hastie, the bride s nieces, whose full skirted, frocks of pastel pink angel-skin satin featured semi-bustles, complete with bows and youthful square-nee ned bodices witu puu.ed sleeves. Gold juliet I caps adorned with pink flowers were on I their heads and necklaces of rhinestones | were the bridegroom's gift. A charming linisn were trailing bouquets of stoens aud freesias with blue Hyacinths and fern. During the signing of the register, Mis 3 Pauline Hastie sang “Gounod's * 4 Ave Maria.” The bridegroom was supported by O/Tel. YV. K. Watson, R.M.v.r., and his brot her, Pte. YV. F. Sims, Second iS.ki.E.F., the usher being tho bride’s orother, L.A.C. E. nastie. Mr. And Mrs. nastie entertained their guests at the Beresford, where small nower-eentred tables were grouped around that of the bridal party, i’lic cake was a handsome one of three-tiers and the usual toasts were interspersed with the reading of telegrams and cables offering felicitations irom absent friends. Mrs. Hastie wore a black ensemble with contrasting trimming of fuschia, black accessories and a floral spray, while Mrs. Sims, who ? assisted in the welcome, chose an ensemble of grey with clue and white relief, a spray of flowers and navy blue accessories. When the newly-weds appeared for travelling, Mrs. Sims wore a smartly tailored grey three-piece suit, with black hat and accessories and a spray of slipper orchids. She carried a tapestry purse, the gift of an aunt, Mrs. J. Barry, of Auckland, and following their departure by car, the guests took the opportunity of viewing a handsome array of gifts at the residence in Awahuri Road.
