RANGIOTU Mrs. Hunter presided over a fair attendance In August and extended a welcome to two visitors. Two letters were read from soldiers. Correspondence was also read from the Army Education Welfare Service, appealing for books for soldiers, and also a letter from the secretary of the Leper Fund. Mrs. Millard read the financial report for July, which showed a satisfactory balance. Mrs. Pearse volunteered to collect for Leper Fund. Mrs. Jepsen read a comprehensive report of the conference held at Gisborne and was thanked by Mrs. Hunter. Competitions resulted:—Rolling penny, Mrs. Jepsen; chocolate cake, Mrs. Pearse 2, Mrs. Jepsen 2; best bloom, Mrs. Pearse 1, Mrs. Beard 2, Mrs. Jepsen 3; sprig of daphne, Mrs. Millard 1, Mrs. Pearse 2, Mrs. Beard 3. Next month’s competitions will be soldier’s mittens; spring flowers, collection of six, three of each. Hostesses will be Mesdames Fawcett, Andrew and Miss Dixon.
