France Responds to Invasion of Italy
Received Sunday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 4. A sudden increase in riots and assassinations in France followed the invasion of Italy, says Reuter's Zurich correspondent. Patriots armed with machineguns attacked the police station at Saint Etienne and released two men held for deportation to Germany. The French believe that the shifting of the war to the European mainland will mean increased deportations to Ger many.
