Pigs, Poultry and Produce
The Dominion Auctioneering: Company report receiving a capacity yarding of pigs at their weekly sale, values declining on last week’s rates. A smaller entry ot poultry came forward, prices also easing a little. There was a keen demand for all classes of vegetables. Realisations:— Pigs: Best weaners 28s Gd to 335, medium 228 6d to 255, email 10s to 16s, slips 30s to 365, heavy stores £2 4s to £2 10s 6d, light stores 30s to 355, light porkers £2 7s 6d to £2 17s 6d, baconers to £3 10s, sows to farrow £2 to £7, sows and litters £5 to £5 15s.
Poultry: Heavy hens 8s 3d to 10s 3d, medium 6s to 7s, light 4s to ss, cockerels 5s 3d to Bs, roosters 4s to Ds 9d, hens ana chicks to 245, ducks 7s 6d to 11s, pullets 6s to 9s 3d, turkeys 16s to 20s. Produce: Cauliflowers 14s to 25s 6d per sack, cabbages ceiling price, leeks 8s to 10s per case, beetroot 4s to 7s 6d per case, carrots 6s to 7s per sugar bag, parsnips 11s to 13s 6d per sack, sprouts 9d to 10a per lb., lettuce, prime 25b to 30s per case, others 6s to 10s per ease, spinach 8s to 12s 6d per case, pumpkins 10s to 13s 6d per sack, swedes 5s to 7s 6d per sack.
