May Prove Downfall of Germany
(By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.} LONDON, Sept. 1.
The growing unrest in Europe may prove to be Hitler's downfall, say London observers. The London Evening Standard says that the Continent of Europe has taken new shape in the last few weeks. “What happens in the near future will not be decided at isUObec, Washington, London or Moscow,’ ’ it says, • ■ out in the back streets of hundreds of European cities. The peoples of all subject lands are getting off their knees and it is a thrilling spectacle. “Bulgaria was the Nazi corner-stone of the Balkans. Now the corner stone is loose. Denmark is in a turmoil and the contagion has spread throughout Scandinavia.’’ The German Overseas News Agency military commentator, General count Jtillfried, says that Germany after four years of war finds herself in the eyes of the world confined to an attitude of defence and confronted by an enemy superior in men and materials. Speaking over the Berlin radio. Stillfried proceeds to argue. “There are other laws than armed power, for instance, better use of laoour, food, raw materials, and more skilful propaganda abroad. But tbe final factor is the German soldier, who knows that a safety zone around the Eelch frontiers facilitates elastic tactics and therefore he fights, convinced of victory.”
