The Feilding Plunket Society will conduct a shop on Friday to aid the branch’s funds. This evening: in the Feilding Drill Hall Ml-. M. H. Oram, National Party candidate, will address electors on the party’s policy. The promotion to Pilot Officer of Sgt. D. Michael, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Michael, of Feilding, has recently been announced. Organised by the Ist Feilding Troop of Boy Scouts, a dance will be held in the Feilding Drill Hall to-morrow evening, and this youthful enterprise commends support. The Registrar of Electors (Mr. F. S. Collier) advises that the number of electors on the supplementary roll, which closed on Tuesday evening, was 1558 and with 11,115 on the main Manawatu roll, there will be a total voting strength . ot 12,673 persons. At a meeting of the Feilding W.W.S.A. correspondence from the Dominion secretary and Mrs. Fraser, wife of the Prime Minister, was received offering congratulations to the branch on its part in the Liberty Loan appeal. A recruiting campaign for the Women’s Land Service is about to be launched by the organisation. During the month just past rain measuring 2.75in. was recorded by Mr. F. Mason, Sandon Road, this covering falls of rain on 11 days. An average of 2.86in. fell during August last year, and for the year to date 2G.24in. has fallen as compared with 25.69in. the. previous year. There was heavy wind on one day only last month and 14 frosts, the heaviest being 8.5 degrees. The National Day of Prayer will be observed in Feilding to-morrow, when special services will be held throughout the day. Citizens will unite in prayer at S a.m. at St. John’s Church, while a service conducted by the local clergymen will take place at noon in the Tivoli Theatre, singing to be led by the band of the Salvation Army. In the evening parishioners will worship at their respective churches.
