Awards to New Zealand Airmen
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 1. New Zealand airmen who took part in the intensive air operations which helped to break the enemy's back in North Africa and Sicily, are included iu the latest award winners, states the R.N.Z.A.F. Official News Service. Five Distinguished Flying Crosses and two Distinguished Flying Medals are announced. They are:— Distinguished Flying Cross Flight Lieutenant Cyril Patrick Towsey; mother, Mrs. C. Towsey, Auckland. Flight Lieutenant Boy Elliott Hanlon; father, Mr. T. E. Ilanlon, of Hamilton. Flying Officer Frederick James Bead; father, Mr. F. J. Bead, of Wellington. Flying Officer Baymond Joseph Peterson; wife, Mrs. M. B. Peterson, of Napier. Pilot Officer John Bex Wood (R.A.F.). Distinguished Flying Medal Pilot Officer (formerly fciergeant) Bernard Cullinane; wife, Mrs. G. D. Cullinaue, of Whatatutu, Gisborne. Sergeant Pax Gilbert Frank Smith; Mr. B. J, Smith, of Auckland (relationship not stated).
