DONALD K. LEED The death occurred recently in Wellington, after a prolonged illness, of Mr. Donald K. Leed, factory representative in New Zealand for Morris Industries Exports Ltd. Mr. Leed was born in Cambridge, England, in IS9B, and his early death will be regretted by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances in the motoring industry and the business fields, both here and abroad. He first joined the Morris Group of Companies in l'J23, and lias since served the company in Persia, West Africa, and Australia and New Zealand. At one stage he was a test-driver for Morris Industries’ cars. Mr. Leeds had previously visited this Dominion in 1935-36 and lias been resident here since August, 11)31). Iu 1942. with tho consent jf Lord Nuffield, Mr. Leed joined the office of the Factory Controller in an honorary capacity to assist in the manufacture of munitions, and thereafter devoted his untiring energies to this end. In particular, lie was responsible for the production of gas masks and steel helmets, and also in matters concerned with the rubber and ceramic industries. His training and experience made him particularly fitted for dealing with production problems throughout New Zealand. During the last war Mr. Leed enlisted at a very early age and served in the Royal Flying Corps and later tlie R.A.F.. being ultimately promoted to commissioned rank.
