Education by Correspondence

The Correspondence School is to-day playing a very important part in the education of the children in the country districts, particularly in the backblock areas. Associated with the movement is the Correspondence School Parents’ Association, a Dominion-wide body, of which Mrs. J. D. Inglis, of Woodville, is the president. The association’s executive lias felt that with the growth of the movement it is now necessary that branches should be established in various centres and on Friday Dannevirke had the distinction of having the first- branch formed in the Dominion, when a thoroughly representative and enthusiastic meeting of parents interested was held. Mrs. Inglis, the Dominion president, presided over an attendance of 20, representative of the Dannevirke and Coast districts, including W T eber, Coonoor, Pongaroa, Wood ville, Makuri, Kumeroa and Ballan.ce. On the motion of Mrs. F. Green (Ngapaeruru), seconded by Mrs. It. A. White (Weber) it was unanimously resolved to form a branch in Dannevirke and district. Mrs. T. C. Moore (Makuri) was appointed district representative and branch president. The following were elected the committee: Mesdames G. Frame (Weber), K. Kilford (Mangaliei), and S. Payne (Man gahei). Mrs. Kilford and Mrs. Payne offered to act as joint secretaries, and it was left to Mrs. Moore* to increase the number on the committee if this was thought advisable.
