TABLE FLAT Aliss R. Elliott presided at the August meeting, extending a warm welcome to a visitor from Apiti. An invitation to the Apiti W.I. birthday in September was received and it is hoped that some members will be present. Competitions arranged for Septembei are a cup of spring flowers, a sponge roll and a handkerchief made from salt or similar bag. Airs, and Aliss Elliott are to be hostesses and there will be a collection in aid of the Makogai Leper Appeal. The quilt has been assembled and realised the sum o? £2. A single bed quilt is nearing completion and this also will be sold for funds. Competitions resulted: Apron from flour bag. Airs. A. F. McMurtrie 1 and 27 Aliss P. Hogan 3; floral buttonhole, Aliss R. Jensen 1, Airs. H. Jensen 2, Aliss P. Hogan 3; jam tarts, Airs. Jensen 1 and 2, Airs. Hogan 3; best bloom, Airs. Jensen 1, Aliss R. Jensen 2, Mrs. Hogan 3. Afternoon tea was served by Alesdames A. F. McMurtrie and W. F. Trim and a social competition was enjoyed.
