Sweden Indignant
LONDON, Aug. 27. Public indignation in Sweden as a . esult of the sinking of the two Swedisn fishing vessels by German warships has reached a peak unsurpassed since the linking of the Swedish submarine Ulven sonio months ago, says the British United Press correspondent in Stock holm. Sweden is awaiting a full Ger man statement after the preliminary answer to the Swedish Foreign Office’s demand for ap explanation. If the German reply is unsatisfactory, Sweden is likely to lodge of the most serious protests ever sent to. Berlin. The newspaper Social Demolsraten states; “The sinkings are undefendable ■ rom any viewpoint. It is urgent that this opinion should reach thoco respon i !e for this meaningless and shocking rime.”
The Dagens Nyheter says: “It is the general opinion that the Government cannot simply smooth over this affair after a short discussion. '*
