Yugoslav Guerrillas Achieve Important Successes
Received Sunday, 7.50 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 28. Yugoslav guerrillas are threatening Zagreb from the south and southeast following the capture of Slunj, Topusko and Jajce, reports the German-con-trolled Stockholm S.T.B. News Agency. Strong partisan forces are also reported to be advancing in the direction of the Ljubia iron ore mines. Guerrillas are again going into action throughout Croatia after organising their forces. Fierce battles are raging in East Bosnia southeast of Tuzla. Guerrillas attacked trains and wrecked the tracks at many points. They completely control the line between Jajce and Bugonitieder. The British United Press’s Stockholm correspondent points out that Berlin often uses the S.T.B. for issuing foreboding news. It can now be revealed that Allied liaison officers working with resistance groups in Yugoslavia and Greece are wreaking great havoc and destruction among war factories and important 1 communications, says the Press Asso- | ciation. Yugoslavs for many months have undergone special training with our ; troops, then taken by secret routes to carry on revolt in their own countries. | Our own officers live and fight with them and help to plan local actions, which arc causing the enemy grave j anxiety and discomfort. Tremendous organisation is required Ito keep the patriots and guerrilla® fully armed. Supplies must be carried I out in the utmost secrecy.
