New Revue for Camp Entertainment

Little Theatre entertainers presented their new revue, entitled “Trans-At-lantic,” before a large audience at All Saints’ Parish Hall on Thursday evening, new features of the show finding general approval. With a very promising ballet in colourful numbers, bright sketches, some attractive dance duos and solos, sleight-of-hand and instrumental Interludes and a strong chorus to back It up, the new revue bids fair to have a successful run. Much thought has been given to the costumes which are most artistic with a nice blending of colour in the grouping. Following was the programme:— Episode I.—South America: “Chlca Chica Boom Chic,” chorus and ballet; “Love Song of Renaldo,” Aileen Nash and chorus; “Tangerine” (dance), Pat Kneebone and chorus; “When the Sun Says Goodnight to tho Mountain” (stringed Instruments), Larry Homan, Wyvern Campbell, Ronald Bryant and Raw! Davis; .‘‘San Antonio Rose,” chorus and ballet; community singing, Colin Watson and chorus.

Episode 2.—North America: “Civil Service” (a skit), Freda Whittaker, Patricia Harman, and Robin Wild; “Whistling Rufus” (whistling song), Clifford Braddel and chorus; “China Town” (conjuring), Colin Watson and chorus; Hawaii—"Yakka Hula Hickey Dula,” chorus and ballet; “Hawaiian Islands,” Larry Homan, Wyvern Campbell, Ronald Grant, and Rawi Davis; “To You, Sweetheart Aloha,” chorus; “Wild Nell” (story without words), Nell Watson, Mary Reece, Gwen Whitehead, Aileen Nash, Helen Andrew, Edna Honey. Episode 3.—Europe: “Concerto for Two” (vocal solo), Nola King; “What More Can 1 Say” (tap dance), Nell and, Colin Watson; “Cinders” (elocutionary), Freda Whittaker, Switzerland; “A Feather in Her Tyrolean Hat,” Aileen Nash, Helen Andrew, Nell and Colin Watson and chorus; “The Swiss Bell-ringer,” chorus and ballet; “Good-bye,” full company. Personnel of ballet: Edna Honey, Fat Kneebono, Gwen Whitehead, Maisie Franklin, Mary Reece, and Margaret O'Connor. Personnel of chorus: Aileen Nash, Nola King, Helen Andrew, Joyce Knight, Doreen Gillies, Robin Wild, Eunice Lewis, Nell Watson, Noellne Burt, Joan McGhee, Dorothy Wass. Mrs. J. Riddle gavo valuable assistance at the piano. Prior to the revue, members of the Society presented a moving one-act play with a Lancashire setting in which there were excellent characterisations. Outstanding was the work of Miss Shirley Kingston, taking the part of an old lady. Miss Kingston celebrated her 21st birthday that day, but sustained a difficult role throughout. Miss Betty Walker, a newcomer, made a good impression In a very fine interpretation of the kindly young friend and she Is a welcome addition to the ranks of Little Theatre players. Mr. W. M. Sexton was priceless as an awkward country lad and Mr. J. Lorrigan was effective as & curate. Mr. E. J. Smith is to be congratulated as pro- | ducer on tho showing of his team. At tho conclusion of tho play, congratula- i tions were extended to Miss Kingston by! Mr. Smith as president of the Society, ■ and a token was presented to her on hor coming-of-age. Mr. Smith introduced Miss F. Harman to the audience as producer of the revue and thanked her for all her efforts in planning entertainment for the soldiers in the past two years. He appealed for volunteers on the production side in view of the Society’s many activities and in other departments and mentioned that the executive had to consider an outside offer for two plays to be staged In the city.
