Dear Hothouse Grapes

As the season has practically finished hothouse grapes are at present bringing very high prices. Only four cases of the Black Hamburg variety, grown in the Otahuhu district, were offered at the Auckland markets this week, and they sold from 9s Sd to 11s per lb., which is a record for several years.

Fertiliser May Not Bo Auctioned •Sales of phosphatic fertiliser by auction are not permitted under the regulations governing the rationing ot fertilisers. It was pointed out by Mr. J. E. Davies, chairman of the South Taranaki fertiliser committee and member of the Central and North Taranaki committees, that rations were granted to properties, not owners, and therefore sales could not be effected.
