Argentina Preparing to Break With Axis
Significant Declaration by
President (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) Received Thursday, 12.35 a.m. BUENOS AIRES, July 7. General Ramirez, addressing Army and Navy officers, hinted that Argentina would eventually break with the Axis when he promised that Argentina would comply with her international agreements “when circumstances make it opportune.” The fact that the President chose to make the statement before the service leaders is understood to indicate that he counts on the support of the nation’s armed forces in his policy of PanAmerican reapprochment which may eventually lead to a rupture with tn Axis, says the United Press’s correspondent who added: “Significance is given to General Ramirez’s statement by the fact that it follows so closely upon the declaration on the previous day by the Foreign Minister (Senor Segundo) that “Argentina will be with her sister American nations when called on to fill her engagements and honour her promises of Pan-American cooperation.”
