Sweden Builds 45 Trawlers for Germany

COULD BE CONVERTED INTO MINESWEEPERS Received Thursday, 10.50 p.m. LONDON, Mar. 11. The Swedish Foreign Minister, Mr. Guenther, speaking in Parliament in reference to Sweden’s completing the delivery of 45 trawlers to Germany ana the British protest, quoted the technical report from the Swedish Board ot .Trade’s Ship Inspection Department stating that the design was suitable for a fishing vessel with a crew of four ana emphasising various details of the construction which indicated that the trawlers were not built for minesweeping. The Daily Express says shipping experts expressed the view that whatever the trawlers’ construction, their conversion to minesweepers would be simple. It also pointed out Germany’s urgent need of minesweepers in the Baltic where R.A.F. mines had caused many sinkings.
