Successful Dance

The first of a series of dances organised by the Terrace End branch of the Labour Party, was held in the Coronation Hall, Terrace End, last Wednesday evening, the occasion being a “free” dance to open the series of weekly functions for the soldiers. The music was provided by a professional orchestra and Mr. C. Lloyd played the extras which were greatly appreciated. Patrons of old-time dances will remember Mr. Lloyd’s playing at social evenings a few years ago in the Old Trade’s Hall, Cuba Street, assisted by his son, Don, on tho piano accordion. Mr. G. Gulliver made an efficient M.C. Supper was served by the ladies’, committee under the capable direction of Hrs. E. Harrod. The winner of a competition was Mrs. Boner, while to add to the fun there were Lucky Gay Gordons and a Monte Carlo waltz. Midnight came all too soon and everyone went home well pleased with the success of the first dance of the branch for the Terrace End residents and it is hoped there will be generous support for future functions to entertain the boys in khaki. PUBLIC OPINION POLL. For any Tcmedy to remain firm in public favour it must have real merit. Public opinion expressed in purchases has placed Baxters Lung Preserver at the top of the poll year after year, generation after generation. Baxters Ltd., Colombo St., Ch. Ch.
