The friends of Mr. A. J. Lobb, of Lees Line, will be pleased to learn that he is progressing satisfactorily following his misfortune early in January when he broke a leg. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Fergusson, of Aorangi, will be pleased to learn that their son, l-'ilot-Officer V. W. Fergusson, has been promoted to Flying Officer. Members and supporters of the National Party in the Feilding district are reminded of the annual meeting' which is to be held in the Party rooms to-morrow evening. The meeting should prove Of particular interest in view of the likelihood ol' a general election this year. Under the auspices of tlie Feilding branch of the lied Cross Society, a special screening of topical flints was made at the Community Centre Little Theatre on Wednesday evening in the presence of a particularly large attendance. The films included several of local interest and the screening was undertaken by Mr. G. V. Newton-Broad, who was cordially, thanked for providing an ‘ entertaining' evening. Citizens and settlers of Feilding and district are appealed to to assist the special patriotic shop day effort to-day which the local Women’s Patriotic organisation is directing to secure funds fur parcels for overseas servicemen. The National Patriotic organisatipn provides a parcel for every soldier every three months and Feilding is obliged to provide its quota. While many parcels are donated, there is always a percentage to be made up out of locally contributed funds. Special coupons will be available to-day for the convenience of thojse who wish to have a parcel sent forward in their name. In its annual report, the Feilding Golf Club records a satisfactory financial position despite a loss in membei’ship due to the demands of the war. The Club’s farm operations conducted by Mr. R. Farquharson resulted in a net profit of £IGS 17s lid and this contributed to the satisfactory position whereby the bal-ance-sheet reveals an excess of income over expenditure amounting to £l5B. A total of 44 members were serving with the forces and from time to time the Club had sent gifts to those of its members who are ovei-seas. The membership at the close of the season stood at 140 compared with 204 at the close of the pi*evious season. The question as to whether the club should carry on and go into recess for the duration of the war is to be considered at the annual meeting.
