The appointments of Mr. F. W. G. McLeod as local organiser of National Savings, and Mr. D. A. Robinson as district 01‘ganiser, have been confirmed. Mr. E. Bary, of Palmerston North, will attend the Civil Defence School of Instruction which opens in Wellington next week and will later take up the position of honorary instructional officer for this district. Mr. and Mrs. John Coyle, of New Plymouth, spent a day or two last week visiting their friends in Palmerston North where they are well known. Mr. Coyle was for many years secretary to the Wellington Hospital and more recently at Dungog, Sydney, and is now acting in that capacity in the State Fire Office, New Plymouth. He was a former secretary to the Pohangina County Council. A cable from the Press Association’s special London correspondent states that the following R.N.Z.A.F. personnel have been promoted to temporary acting sublieutenants:—S. Burley, T. K. Fall well, A. W. Worth, B. A. Hunter (all of Auckland). H. P. Anderson (Wellington), C. S. Turnbull (Tlmaru), T. M. Sunderland (Havelock North), also A. W. Woodhouse, B. M. Simpson and C. D. Mowat; members of special branch, R. B. Smith, L. M. Hadley and D. G. Francis (Wellington) and P. M. Priest (Palmerston North).
