Clever Young Dancers in Popular Recital

Always a popular form of entertainment, the annual dance recital by pupils , of Miss June Scott, attracted a large at- j tendance at the Opera House on Tuesday j evening, and in a lengthy programme of i 27 items, there was never a dull moment. 1 A feature of the programme was that it 1 I was mainly provided by very juvenile < performers and tneir prowess reflected ' ■ great credit on their teacher. There was j infinite variety in the numbers presented; j and colourful frocking with a very strong | • section devoted to fine national dancing, outstanding being the dances of the Brit- i ; lsh Isles concluding with a “V. for Vic- | i lory” tableau to bring in our Allies. The programme concluded with a most col- t ourt'ul Butch scene and spirited dance. By special request, Miss Scott gave a delightful interpretation of a tango, and was enthusiastically recalled. The children were showered with floral and other tributes and Miss Scott was the recipient of a present from the pupils. Mr. HillMotion (stage manager) returned thanks for the appreciation accorded the dancers and called on the Mayor to address ‘ the gathering..
