Feilding’s Collection Of Waste Products

For just over 12 months the Waste Products Store has been in operation and although householders and shop and office keepers have not yet fully realised what is to do about it, success is certainly building up. The receipt and sorting is being done by Messrs R. J. Goodman, J. Stringer, senr., and A. Wickham, ail volunteers for the good work. During the 12 months 25 tons of waste paper have gone forward either to Wellington for the Mataura paper mills in Otago or to the Wnakatane mills up north. For the sale of paper to local shopkeepers the sum of £SS has been received. Last month another six tons were railed north, comprising 30 wool bales full, 73 cartons of cardboard and 17 bundles of large-size cardboard. There is in hand, much «f it packed, three more tons of waste paper. Besides the above, the store has also received a fair quantity of rubber and small articles of metal. There is space and need for much more of all these waste products and as the cash realised goes to the Feilding patriotic fund, the call is: Keep on sending them in!
