Quiet Confidence

(Special Australian Correspondent,) Received Thursday, 1.10 a.m.

SYDNEY, Oct. 28. The general demeanour of members of the War Council, after a meeting tonight, seemed to suggest a quiet confidence in the outcome of the battle in the Solomons, says the Canberra correspondent of the Australian United Press, fhe Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Forde, said Cabinet had discussed reports submitted by service chiefs on the campaigns in New Guinea, Solomons and Middle East, but for security reasons, he could not disclose the contents of the reports. The correspondent adds that it is understood reports received in Australia indicate that there is no Justification for pessimism as to the outcome in the Solomons battle.
