Schoolgirls to Pick Nelson Fruit

Per Press Association. KELSON. Oct 28. A proposal to bring secondary school girls from Wellington to assist on small fruits and in tobacco gardens during January and February, was discussed by Miss P. L. Jull. Girls* Vocational Guidance Officer. Wellington, and the Nelson Provincial Executive of the Farmers* Union. Miss Jull said that the youth centre was able to find several hundreds of school girls for fruit picking provided conditions were suitable. The big problem was accommodation. The Manpower Department had offered to pay the fare*. She did not think the girls were out to make much money. They were mostly strong girls and would work well. Miss Jull is spending two days inspecting schools and halls for aooommodatkm.
