United Nations’ Flag Day in America
Received Sunday, 11.30 p.m. WASHINGTON, May 9.
President Roosevelt has asked American citizens to honour the peoples of all the united nations in the observance of Flag Day on Thursday because the United States is but one of -6 nations fighting for the greatest cause the world has ever known and unless all triumph all will fail. In a proclamation urging the people to display the American flag and wherever feasible the flags of all the united nations on Thursday, Mr. Roosevelt declared; “The United States is dedicating all we have aud all we are to the combat.” He also pledged that “we will not stop this side of victory.” He added: “It is fitting at thiis time of stress that we express devotion to our courageous mothers, many of whom are sending sons out to do battle with the enemy aDd all of whom are so loyally contributing to waging the war to the home front.”
