HOUSEHOLDERS MEET New school committees took office last evening at the annual meeting of householders within the Wanganui Education district. Nominations closed last Alonday in respect of Central, College Street, West End and Terrace End schools and as only the required number was nominated in each case, no election was necessary. At Hokowhitu, with Air. H. W. Cox presiding, a protest was entered at frequent changes in staff, especially headmasters (six in six years). A protest was also entered at the recent change in tho school boundary which now necessitates children crossing the railway line to go to the Terrace End School. Both these matters are to be taken up with the Education Board. Complaint was also voiced that the board was, in advertising for a headmaster, classing the school 5B whereas its attendance made it a grade 6 school. The following committee was elected:— Alessrs. H. W. Cox, P. E. Crowther, A. W. Green, W. J. Rickard, L. D. Robertson, H. D. Ayson, R. Hodren and E. Evans A letter expressing hopes for a speedy recovery to health, is to be sent Air W. G. Black. Mr. Cox was re-elected chairman and Mr. Crowther secretary. Tho committee is one man short and tho vacancy will b(? filled later by tho committee. College Street: Air. H. G. Mills presided. There was not a very attendance. The assembly hall fund now stands at £3OB 12s lid. There was no meeting of the Incoming committee, so that the chairman and secretary have yet to be appointed. Russell Street: The following committee was elected: Messrs. D. W. J. AlcDowall (chairman), R. R. Williams (secretary), W. O. Young (treasurer), C. O. Brill, F. Jones, C. Alay, P. R. Walker, L. Hughes and S. F. Prosser.
