BRITAIN PLANS TOTAL CONSCRIPTION MEASURE
(By Telegraph Preas Assn. Copyright) (Rec- 7. 1.15) LONDON, Nov. 6. The British Government is considering: a total conscription Bill, says the Star’s political writer. It would empower the Government to place any man or woman of any age where they would be likely to be of the greatest service, whether in the fighting forces or in industry. The Minister of Labour, Mr Bovin, already has power to “direct” men aged 41 or more and women of any age into work of national importance, but he cannot make them Join any branches of the fighting services or women’s auxiliaries.
