NOVEMBER MEETING The monthly meeting of the Woodvlile County Council was held yesterday, the chairman (Mr. M. O. Graingor) prosiding over Crs. J. Mitchell, J. M. Hutchinson, E. D. Cattanach, li. 11. Morgan, W. Galloway and E. W. Norman. The clerk Mr. J. M. Graham) and the engineer (Mr. W. J. Hawkes) wore also present. Leavb of absenco was granted Cr. A. Ramsden. Correspondence

A copy of a Deed of Trust in connection with the Woodville R.S.A. property was received from Mr. W. A. Lyon and the required resolution giving effect to the provisions of the Deed was carried on the motion of Crs. Cattanach and Hutchinson, the resolution also providing tho attachment of Council's seal to the document. It was also decided to attach the Council’s seal to an agreement between Council and Mr. F. Knapp in connection with river erosion. Correspondence relative to the establishment of a crematorium in Hawke’s Bay was received. A letter from tho Kairanga County Council in connection with the Manawatu Gorge Limestone Roservo was received, the chairman stating that the information asked for (regarding payment of rental and receipt of royalty) had been forwarded. Subject to being in order, a land transfer from A. O. Menefj', Kiritaki, to J. W. Mills, Te Rehunga, was approved. Mr. (Sam P. Skinner wrote stating that three times he has saved children from probable drowning fatalities in the drain ‘that runs from the Bank of New Zealand corner through his property. All three children, concerned were under the ago of threo years and he drew Council's attention to the matter in the hope that it would take steps to eliminate any such possibility in the future. —Received. The Public Works Department forwarded a copy of the Land Purchase Officer’s report dealing with compensation in connection with the Oringi Road deviation—The Commissioner of Crown Lands' offer was accepted by the Council. Other claims were discussed but not finalised. General Cr. Hutchinson asked if there was a man available to carry out some work on tho road loading to. his place.- Ihe engineer statod that he had the work in mind and it would bo done. Cr. Mitchell spoke of overhanging trees on Jackson s Road.—To receive attention. Cr. Norman mentioned that the water table on Patterson’s hill required attention. He also considered that the county roller should bo removed from where it is standing opposite the yards in McLean Street. The engineer stated that the services of a man with a Transport certificate must be obtained in order to move the roller. Efforts were being made in this direction.

Accounts totalling £654 17s lid were passed for payment.
