Prices Reflect Downward Trend DAIRY CATTLE REMAIN FIRM Taken over all, prices at yesterday’s Feilding live stock sale reflected a downward trend and in some of the departments there was little business doing, notably in the case of store sheep and station cattle. On the other hand, good quality dairy cattle experienced a very firm tone and the enquiry for yearling Jersey heifers, was quite strong The broken weather appears to be influencing the market just now and seasonal operations on the farm are to some extent responsible for a falling off of sale yard activities.

Fat Sheep. Vendors of fat sheep found the market inclined to ease slightly with an appreciable levelling down in the case of ewe mutton. The realisations included the following:— Fat hoggets: 32 at 19s; three account A. Humphrey at 19s 30d and 19 at 20s 4d; 10 at 19s 4d; eight at 18s lOd; nine on account H. Voss at 21s 4d and five at 20s Id; 26 on account J. Milligan at 22s lOd and six at 20s lOd; 14 on account J. Tremaine at 20s 7d; 32 on account H. Jarvis at 21s lOd, five at 21s Id and two at 25s 7d; nine account K. Williamson 20s 4d; 16 account S. Bond at 23s 4d; 34 account M. E. McCool at 19s 7d; 20 account N. W. Store Sheep. A moderate offering of store sheep found the market devoid of activity and the passings were heavy. Prices eayed on late rates, due in a measure to the broken weather conditions. Realisations were:— Two-tooth wethers: 82 at 24s 3d; 72 at 18s; 71 at 16s 2d; 141 at 21s lOd. Two-tooth ewes: 31 at 265. 3d. Two-tooth b.f. wethers: 23 on account T. Waugh at 225. Ewes and lambs: 22 with 22 lambs, 13 s; 44 with 60 lambs, 14s 76. Fat Cattle. The tone of the beef market was hardly as strong as last week and prices were easier in relation to quality. The realisations included the following: Eight A.A. bullocks on account Brown Bros., 13s and seven ditto at £l2 10s; four medium steers on account J. H. Print at £lO 17» 6d; single bullock account T. Henaghan at £ll i7s 6d; light steers, £6 37s 6d, £7 2s bd, £7 7s 6d, £7 12s 6d, £8 12s 6d to £9 17s 6d; five A.A. heifers account F. J. Boddy, £S 7s 6d; three A y A. cows, £8 7s Gd; A.A. heifers account O. A. Collis, £8 15s and £9 10s; cows, £6 7s 6d, £6 17s 6d to £7 12s 6d. Station Cattle. There was very little activity in the station cattle section where only two or three pens were disposed of under the hammer. The yarding was of mixed quality and was mostly on behalf of dealers. The sales included the following lots: 13 2yr. steers at £6 11s; 40 2vr. A.A. steers of (good quality at £6 12s 6d; 18 A.A. 2yr. good steers at £7 9d; nine yearling steers at £5. Store Cattle. Sales of boner cows were made at rates in sympathy with current schedule as follows: 20s, 30s, 31s, 355, 395, £2, £2 2s 6d, £2 ss, £2 7s 6d, £2 12s 6d to £3; empty heifers, £4. Dairy Cattle. Prices for good quality dairy cattle remained firm with an active demand. Realisations were as follows:—• Springing heifers: £4 10s, £5 ss, £5 15s, £6 ss, £7 ss, £7 10s, £B, £8 ss, £8 30s, £8 15s, £9, £9 ss, £9 10s, £lO, £ll, £l2 to £l3 15s; spg. cows, £4 10s, £5 15s, £6, £6 10s, £7, £7 15s, £B, £9 3 os, £lO ss, £l3 to £ls; heifers in milk, £3 ss, £4 5s t.o £7 10s.

Yearling Jersey heifers of good quality sold readily at late rates: £2, £2 10s, £3 15s, £3 37s 6d. £4, £4 2s 6d, £4 ss, £4 15s, £4 17s 66, £5 ss, £5 6s, £5 12 s 6d, £5 15s, £6 5s to £B.
