Emergency Fire Service

There was a very satisfactory attendance of wardens, patrol leaders and members of tho fire service branch of the E.P.S. in Palmerston North on Tuesday night. Mr. A. Grigor presided and Mr. C. V. Day (secretary) was also present. The forms, which are being filled in by the public for use in emergency are being returned in satisfactory numbers, but it was stressed that still further support for this branch of the E.P.S. will be welcomed. Fourth Officer Edgar, of the local Fire Station, made an explanation of the uses of various types of fire extinguishers, both chemical and foam, being included. A vote of thanks to Mr. Edgar for his instructive lecture was carried towards the end of the meeting. The organisation of this service is proceeding very well and should be complete and ready in the near future.
