Super-fighter Makes First Appearance
Received Wednesday, 9.10 p.m. tONDON, Aug. 12.
A feature of the R.A.F. daylight offensive was the participation of the twin-engined long-range Whirlwind fighter believed to be -operating for the first time. They are still on tne secret list but the American Journal stated that its Rolls-Royce engines develop a speed of over 400 miles an hour. The armament includes a power-driven turret. Other American reports suggested that the Whirlwind is superior to the latest Spitfire.
