Obituary
MRS. V. J. NICHOLSON The death occurred recently of Mrs. Violet Lydia Nicholson, wife of Mr. V. J. Nicholson, of Palm Avenue, at the ago of 44 years. Born in London, aud always very proud of that fact, Mrs. Nicholson, who before her marriage was Miss Loekevear, trained for a period in? ti London Hospital, but left to enter the the employment of Messrs. Derry and Toms, of South Kensington. It was while in London that she met Sergeant Nicholson, of the N.Z.E.F., and they were married at Clapliam Parish Church on July 5, 1919. Shortly afterwards, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson left for New Zealand. On her arrival in this country tho deceased lady set about earnestly to adapt herself to Dominion conditions and immediately commenced to establish a home in the somewhat difficult post-war conditions. She and her husband resided in Masterton, Marton, Nelson and Palmerston North, and she always found time to interest herself in social welfare work. A member of the Church of Christ for 17 years, she devoted much of her time to the Campbell Street Church, especially the young people and the Sunday School. A tribute to Mrs. Nicholson’s work for the Church of Christ was paid by Mr. G. R. Stirling (minister) at the service on the Sunday following Mrs. Nicholson’s death.
Mrs. Nicholson is survived by her husband, one son, Mr. lan Nicholson, and one daughter, Miss Yvonne Nicholson; also two sisters, Mrs. H. Potter and Miss M. Lockvear, and three brothers, Messrs. «T. {?., E. C. and W. Lockeyear (all of London).
