Botany Handicap: Winifred, 7.13 (Thompson) 1, Irish Sea, 7.9 (Cook) 2, Creditor, 8.8 (Shean) 3. Eight started. Half a length; three-quarters. Time, 1.24. Winter I?late: Jymjon, 6.7 (Mulley). 1, Buzalong, 9.3 (Shean) 2, Red Sails, 7.5 (Terrill) 3. Nine started. Head; two lengths. Time, 2.413 —an Australasian record for a mile and five furlongs. Exeter Handicap: Brazen Lad, 9.11 (Bartle) 1, Merrimba, 8.3 (McCarten) 2, Snow Queen, 8.0 (Parsons) 3. Nine started. Half a length; three-quarters. Time, 1.37*. At Flemington the chief results were: Marlborough Hurdle: Bureaucrat, 11.4 (Watts) 1; Ti Trol, 9.0 (Scholl) 2; Allanium, 10.1 (Miller) 3. Six started. Two lengths; seven. Time, 4.10. Royal Steeplechase: Highland March, 9.7 (McKee) 1, Bridge of Dee, 9.7 (Sweetnam) 2; Nevizes, 10.6 (Dummett) 3. Thirteen started. Three lengths and a-half; two and a-half. Time, 4.52. Birthday Handicap: Brave Lady, 7.2 (Beresford) 1; New Warrior, 7.9 (Preston) 2; Prairie Dale, 8.3 (Unkovitch) 3. Nine started. Neck; three-quarters of a length. Time, 3.36. Auries Star won the Lancaster Handicap carrying 10.2 in hollow fashion, covering Flemington’s straight six in 1.12.
