Goldingham, of Palmerston North, has received advice that his son, Lance-Corporal Rodney Goldingham, who lias been participating in the recent engagements with the 2nd N.Z.E.F., has arrived safely in Egypt. The Palmerston North Hospital Board yesterday expressed sympathy with the' relatives of two members of its staff whose names have recently appeared in the overseas casualty lists —Private W. Kells, reported missing, and Corporal A. Jenkins, wounded. “It is with the very deepest regret that I have to report that one of our members, Mr. Lionel A. Bailey, of Mangaweka, passed away at Wellington on the Ist instant,” stated Mr. E. F. Hemingway to yesterday's meeting of the Wanganui Education Board. “Com-

ing to the board's table in 1938, Mr. Bailey soon found a place in the hearts of members by liis unfailing good nature and liis courtesy to all. His zeal for the schools in his district and his desire at all times to help the schools in other parts of the board's district proved him to be a most valuable mem’her. By his death the cause of education in the Wanganui district is the poorer and members have lost a valued friend.” The board tendered sympathy to widow and family and placed on record its appreciation of his work.
