SLYGROG SELLING FROM CARS PARKED IN STREET
(Press Assn.) WELLINGTON, June 16. Slygrcg selling from cars parked in a city street at night resulted in .he imposition of a substantial fine and a priecn sentence upon Gustavus Stephen Parsons, aged 26, by Mr J. L. Stout, in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. Parsons pleaded guilty to two charges of selling liquor without a licence, and on one charge was sent to gaol for one month with hard labour, and on the other was fined £SO. The police said it was noticed that two cars were being parked in Boulcott street, and on the night of May 16 police watchers saw a taxi draw alongside one and parcels being transferred, and on another occasion four taxis stopped alongside, parcels being transferred to each. A constable purchased two bottles of beer from defendant. Liquor seized by the police consisted of 174 bottles of beer and 10 of wine. Arthur Francis Philpott, aged 17, for assisting Parsons, was fined £2 on each of two charges of unlicensed sale oi liquor.
