Attractive Winter Wedding at Feilding
HODGE—RICHFIELD An attractive afternoon wedding was solemnfsed recently at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Feilding, when Caroline, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S J. Richfield, of Feilding, and Archibald Willis, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Hodge, of Mangarimu, were joined in the bonds of holy matrimony. The officiating minister was Rev. A. L. Dixon. In a gown of ivory satin and brocade Miss Richfield made a beautiful bride as she entered the church to the strains of the hymn “O Father All Creating,” escorted by her father. Designed to merge into a graceful train, her gown fell in soft folds, over which was worn the bride’s sister’s veil surmounted by a coronet of orange blossoms, while her jewellery comprised a gold pendant worn by her sisters at their weddings, and a brooch lent by her mother, which fastened the cowled neckline of hei gown. Ivory roses and carnations were carried by the bride. ,
In attendance on the bride were Misses E. Richfield, Banks Peninsula (cousin of the bride), and B. Hodge, Foxton (niece of the bridegroom), wno were gowned in blue and pink brocaded satin worn with matening toques. Chrysanthemums and fern composed their shower bouquets. The bridegroom’s gifts to the ’maids were necklaces.
The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. R. Richfield, Raetihi, while Mr. A. Hodge, Foxton, acted as groomsman.
During the signing of the register, Mrs. Ryan, of Kelvin Grove, rendered the solo “I Walk with Thee.”
A reception was afterwards held at the Beresford, where the guests were received by Mrs. Richfield, who was attired in a red and brown ensemble, with matching hat and spray of violets. Mrs. Hodge assisted and wore under a fur coat a violet dress with spray of daphne and heather. The handsome three-tiered wedding cake that graced the bridal table was the work of Mrs S. Hodge, of Rangiwahia, and. was a gift to tho bride, while the popular couple were the recipients of numerous beautiful gifts and cheques. When Mr. and Mrs. Hodge appeared for travelling in the north the latter wore a smartly tailored suit with matching brown hat and accessories and carried a tailored coat in the same shade. Their new home will be iff Mangarimu.
