(From Our Own Correspondent.} Mr. K. Vile presided, over the meeting of the school committee, there being also present Messrs. L. Koberstein, H. Bartlett, H. Whitehead and headteacher ! (Mr. I. N. Leet). Correspondence was ' received from the Education Board i notifying that the school environment i certificate had been endorsed for 1940. The chairman voiced his pleasure at the continued success of the school in obtaining this reward and complimented the headteacher on the pleasant surroundings. It was decided to forward a letter of thanks to the Bulls Town Board for the use of the Domain for the school picnic. The audited balance sheet showed a healthy financial position. Considerable discussion took place on the suggestion to hold the school ball earlier in the year and dates early in September were approved. The longdeferred provision of an asphalt play area was brought up and after discussion it was decided to writq to the Education Board asking for permission and assistance in having an area put down and to ask the architect to meet the committee to discuss the matter. The monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs. W. Robinson, two now members, Mrs. H. Whitehead and Miss Weigott, being elected delegates to the group meeting. The cako> competition was won by Mrs. o. Klatt with Mrs. A. V. Matthews second. The best bloom was presented by Mrs. Robinson with Miss Bailey second and a further competition was won by Miss M. Tremain with Miss J. Murray 2.
