Awapuni Track Work

HORSES TOR OTARI' YESTERDAY’S FINAL GALLOPS Awapurii stables are well represented Rt Otaki and the conditions -were perfect for the linal gallops. On the course proper the going was good and the flags were wide out. One of the best efforts over seven was that of Renascor (S. Waddell) and Courting (J. Bowness) who were joined by Caution (W. J. Broughton) at the six. They ran the first half mile in 57 and they went on strongly to complete in 1.38 3-5. Gaelic Song (McKinnon) maintained an even pace over seven in 1.40; Colibri (E. Temperton) took 1.43 2-5; but Myarion (Waddell) and Hokumsi were on terms and going nicely at the end of a similar task in 1.38 3-5. There were several gallops over six but the disk was down and it was hard to time them. Victoire (Waddell) and Elusory (Tattersall) were easing up before they reached the post to record 1.25. Good efforts over ffve were those of Pitmark (Broughton) 1.8 3-5; War Credit (Tattersall) 1.9 3-5; and Manahau (Waddell) 1.9 3-5. Sweet Anne (Broughton) was given time to find her feet and she came home easily to run four in 55 4-5. Sandy Bay (Tattersall) was not asked to do better than even time over four but Ringloss (Broughton) averaged 14 to tho furlong.

Squeers (Broughton) and Henry of Huntingdon (P. Buchanan) were a couple of lengths in front of Ara (H. P. Stewart) at tho end of live in 1.11. Selkirk and Colerica each took 1.13 for five and Plying Spray (Stewart) ran threo in 42, which was not bad after her holiday. Gamepit (M. Wright) again jumped the country out in tho oval, giving another sound display. Horses that were put over the schooling hurdles were Corroboree (Miss White) and Quadroon (M. Bowden), and Manteau (D. W. Redstone)., Clarion Call, with B. H. Morris in the saddle, was given a strong work-out on the course proper and he pulled up well. B. H. Morris leaves for Hastings on Monday to take charge of Mr. Prank Ormond ’s horses. He will train them in Hastings. J. Bowness will ride Courting and Caution at Otaki. He is the stable apprentice.
