(From Our Own Correspondent.) Women’s Emergency Corps The members ox the Foxton. Women's Emergency Corps have been meeting each Thursday afternoon and as a result of their work and also the efforts of other local ladies, it has been possible to forward a further parcel to the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council. The last parcel despatched included 16 sets, comprising scarf, mittens and balaclava, and 41 liussifs and thanks are due to all who have been knitting for the (J° r ps and also to those Who have forwarded parcels of clothing. The thanks of the Corps are also extended to Miss B. Speirs for her gift of eight pairs of fur-lined gloves, 'lhese are tor the use of the men on mine-sweepers. These gloves may be made from, old fur coats etc. and if anyone has old fur available for this purpose the Corps will, if notified, make the necessary arrangements for the cutting aut of the gloves. Personal Miss Nancy Benge, of Palmerston North, was a week-end visitor to Foxton and was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. I'. Procter, of Purcell Street.’ Miss Joan Barron, of Wellington, who has been spending the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. 11 Barron, of Robinson {Street, leaves for Tokomuru Bay, where she has been appointed nurse in charge of the {School Dental Clinic for the Tokomaru Bay ami Tolaga Bay district. Miss Peggy Bowden lias returned home from a holiday visit to Silverhopij where she was the guest of Mr. anti Mrs. H. D. Amer. U.AO.D. In the absence of the A.D., P.A. Sis. A. Titcombe presided at the fortnightly meeting of the U.A.O.D. Bro. Goddard advised that he had been accepted for service with the Navy and as he would be leaving shortly, he regretted having to relinquish his oihcq as I.G. Members expressed their regret at the pending departure of Bro. Goddard who had been an enthusiastic member, and took the opportunity to wish him the best of luck for the future. A letter was read from Grand Lodge advising that the death had occurred of the Grand Treasurer, Bro. McWhinney. The secretary was instructed to forward a letter of condolence. As difficulty is being experienced in making the necessary arrangements for ' R.A.C. meetings, owing to petrol restrictions and other activities, a special meeting to discuss the position will be | held in Palmerston North at an early date.
