Splendid Result From Radio Appeal
Press Association.. WELLINGTON, April 28. Tho indications are that the radio and telephone appeal for Patriotic Funds on Anzac Night will produce a total of approximately £45,000 which is regarded as a splendid result. Apart from the co-operation received from the public and the splendid contribution made by voluntary workers up and down the Dominion in receiving and recording the donations as they were given by subscribers over tho telephone, there were other gratifying features in connection with the appeal. One was a contribution to tho funds from outside the Dominion. It came from the Ivermadec Islands, the amount bcin" over £SO representing tho result of a tarpaulin muster. Payments to date show that besides those who used the telephone on Anzac night to advise their contributions there were others who did not ring up their donations and who are making direct contributions to swell the final result of the appeal. Among such con tributors to-day was an elderly man who gave £5.
