Royal Message of Condolence
tve Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 2h. The Governor-General has announced that the King has approved the despatch of a royal message of condolence to relatives of members of the fighting services who have losi l-heir lives on active service and ah*o to the relatives of personnel of the mercantile marine and fishing fleet wfiose deaths have resulted from enemy action during the present war. The royal message will be on noto paper bearing the royal coat of arms anu a facsimile of his Majesty’■ signature. It reads as follows: “Buckingham Palace. The Queen aud I offer you our heartfelt sympathy in your great sorrow. We pray that your country’s gratitude for a life so nobly r given iu its service may bring you some measure of consolation.” His Excellency stated that the conditions of the issue are in accordance with his Majesty’s wishes and are identical witn those operative in the United Kingdom and o-iher parts of the Britisn Commonwealth. Generally speaking, the royuJ message will uo despatched immediately aiter official notification of the death has been given by telegraph to the relatives. His Excellency also stated that the message would bo sent at an early dale to the relatives of those men who have died in circumstances qualifying for the despatch of this message aud .. hose deaths have been officially notifies Inquiries by relatives in connection with the roy'al message should uo made to the following authorities: New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, the Naval {Secretary, Qie Navy Office, Wellington Cl; 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force, the Director of Base Records, Victoria Street, Wellington Olj and Royal New Zealand Air Force, the Air Secretary, Air Department, Wellington Cl; Mercantile Marine, the l nuer-Secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington Cl.
