Complimentary Social
YOUNG AIRMEN HONOURED A complimentary social and dance was held last Wednesday evening iu the Masonic Hall iu honour of Pilot Officer R. S. (Dick) Austin and Leading Aircraftman S. Q. Brannigan. There was a large gathering of friends and relatives present, and the evening was spent in dancing, while a number of items were also given. Also present at the gathering were Serge antPilot Brisco (co-pilot of Dick Austin) and Leading Aircraftman Brisco. Air. J. Hutton welcomed the guests of the evening and expressed pleasure at. having these young men present, and called on the Mayor, Air. S. K. Siddelis, who wished tho young men the best and hoped for their safe return. Air. A. W. Bisset, county chairman, spoke and expressed regret that the functin could not be a public one, but that had not been possible. Mr. Bisset stated that the town must, be proud of Pilot Officer Austin, who was among the youngest in the country to earn that rank. The Alayor then called upon Airs. Siddelis and Mrs. Bisset respectively to make a small presentation to PilotOfficer Austin and Leading Aircraftman Brannigan, who -were also accorded musical honours. During the evening, a tasty supper was provided. The duties of ALU. were ably carried out by Air. 11. Boagoy, while music was supplied by Air. Peter J ackson.
