Kirknmu, factory superintendent of the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company, Limited, when appealing for the exemption of a number of factory employees from military service. Mr. lvirkmau said that in pursuance of the Government's policy to produce more cheese, the Department of Agriculture was arranging tor the working of double shifts in cheese factories. To achieve this result night shifts had been worked in some factories.
