Electricity Consumption in City
BIG GROWTH IN LOAD DURING PAST YEAR The annual cost of electrical power to the Palmerston North City Council for the year ended on March 31 last was £8.74, as against £8.99 the previous year. The value of the power bought from the Power Board was £41,510 30s 6d, as against £36,182 Is 5d the previous year. The increase in the average k.v.a. bought was 663.5 k.v.a., or approximately 16 per cent., as against 20 per cent, the year previous. The total cost of the power handled was £41,045 ISs sd, as against £36,072 ISs lOd, an increase of £4972 19s 7d. The foregoing figures, which wer# contained in the annual report of the city electrical engineer (Mr. J. W. Muir) presented at last night’s meeting of the City Council), take into consideration the payment made to the council by tho Public Works Departnient for power generated for them and the amount paid on account of the power plant being letained as a stands by plant. The number of new consumers connected during the year was 231, as against 255 the previous year. The number of new electric ranges connected to the mains during the year was 305, as against 230 the previous year.
