PERSONAL
The friends of Mr. Harold Pierard will regret to learn that he has been confined to a private hospital in order to undergo a minor operation. They will wish him a speedy return to health. Mr. J. B. Bennett, a son of Mr. A. E. Bennett, of Bangitikei Liue, and nephew of the late Mr. G. H. Bennett, has been appointed to succeed Mr. F. Bates as inspector of schools in Canterbury. Mr. Bennett received his education at the Terrace End {School and the Palmerston North Boys' High School, and later went to Victoria College. He was first-assistant at the Wanganui Intermediate School for some time and was later headmaster at the Taikorea, Oroua Downs and Kimbolton Schools. For the past two and a-half years he has been headmaster of the Kaetihi School. Mr. Bennett has represented Victoria College and Manawatu at both cricket and football.
