Manawatu A. and P. Association
SPRING SHOW DATES Approximate dates for the 1941 = spring show were decided on at a meet- = ing of the general committee of tho = Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. = Association on Thursday, in response to = a request from the Royal Agricultural | Society of New Zealand. The dates de- | cided on are November 5 and 6. Mr. B. E. Keillor presided over an = attendance of about thirty members. | The president welcomed to the meet- | ing Messrs. J. Knight and M. Kebbell, | who were recently appointed to the = committee, and Messrs. R. D. Knight | and J. Linklater, who have recovered | from recent illnesses. Flying Officer E. z W. Barnett was also welcomed by the = president, who extended good wishes to z him in his candidature for the Mana- | watu seat. Flying Officer Barnett re- = turned thanks for the association’s | good wishes in this matter and for his 5 election as vicc-p e ident, Mr. Q. O. s Wilson, who is serving with the Terri- = torial forces, was also welcomed to the f meeting. The Corriedale Sheep Society advised | that in an endeavour to encourage | j younger and less experienced judges, = lthe association was being approached 5 to appoint, where circumstances per- | Imitted, younger judges to act. Many = of these were good sheep men and good = judges but lacked experience. It was § decided to refer the letter to the sheep \ committee. 5 The New Zealand Friesian Associa- r lion, in a letter, stated that it had do- § cided to grant £o as additional prize I money for the 1941 Spring Show. = Mr. H. C. Morgan, in acknowledging = j acceptance of his resignation from the = association, wrote reciprocating the | good wishes oi members and extending 5 his personal than its to Miss A. Picker- | ing (secretary) and the staff. Messrs. = J. Hodgens, M.P., A. E. Mansford and | W. J. Blundell (Wellington) Wrote = thanking the association for their = election as vice-presidents, and offering | good wishes for the continued welfare = of the association. Mr. H. Voss advised that he would bo | unable to accept appointment as senior | vice-president of the association. Mr. § L. B. Wall was elected to the office. = Messrs. Voss and E. A. »mind were | appointed to fill two vucancios on the 5 general committee. The following were appointed a | finance committee: Messrs. «). Bntclielar, | C. E. Vile, J. Knight, D. B. McEwcn, IS. = R. Thomson and E. A. Snand. The following distiict members were | appointed: Messrs. O. A. Cadwaliader § (Wairarapa), W. D. Carson (Wanga- | nui), H. J. Lancaster (Levin), .T. Webb 11 (Taihape), R. Marshall (Maitou) and j f G. J. J. Buchanan (Dannevirke). Special = members elected are: Messrs. W. Mould- f ey and W. G. Black (City Council), K. t A. Henderson (Chamber of Commerce 1, | A. C. Morton (Massey College) and J. = J. Stevenson. The following chief stewards were = announced: Messrs. W. S. Fell (cattle), f 11. Voss (sheep), D. Scott (horses), YV'. 5 A. Davidson (pigs) and C. G. Hayward | (home industries). Last year’s grounds | committee was re-appointed, with Air. | J. A. Russell as chairman. It was announced that Mr. R. Tanner, | juu., had donated two tons of wheat | straw to the association, and it was de s cided to write thanking him.
